I'm heading to the Indian Education for All Best Practices Conference in Billings today, so I thought I'd share some links relating to IEFA.
- NPR ran this story, which touches on sovereignty and state-to-state relations as well as a burning contemporary issue (the fentanyl crisis).
- This is a haunting story about bringing the remains of a student who died at Carlyle back to the Blackfeet Reservation for reburial.
- I love the Montana Free Press, and if you don't subscribe to its free newsletter, you are missing out! It has all the Montana political news you need plus deep dives into topics like school funding. Two recent stories that caught my eye:
- "Indigenous lands generate revenue for Montana campuses" about how Morrell Land Grant colleges directly benefit from colonialism.
- Bison transfers to tribes grow as state pushes to shrink Yellowstone herd.
